Heritage Trail
Wthin Pocklington there are many streets, buildings and other areas of interest that have been named after those who gave their lives in the last World War. The names are generally of those who flew from Pocklington Airfield. At the same time there are many buildings of interest within the area and, in conjunction with the recently published cycle routes, it seemed appropriate to develop a trail that could be followed on foot or bicycle. This will allow visitors, locals and guests to explore Pocklington and the hinterland with a little more guidance and interest, perhaps, than is currently the case. The trail is currently in its infancy and interested parties have been invited to attend a special meeting in the New Year to take this forward. It is estimated that a plaque will cost about £300 to have made and erected. Any local businesses or individuals who are interested in sponsoring a plaque are asked to contact grayhicks@aol.com. Either full or partial sponsorship is welcomed. Obviously, if a sponsor wishes to sponsor more than one plaque they may. Similarly, if anyone wishes to make an anonymous donation that, too, will be very welcome.
